RUSSIA

According to operational data by Soyuzrossakhar dated April 5, the Russian Federation planted 93.800 hectares with sugar beet (on the same date in 2015 - 151,600 ha).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in Russia sugar beet was planted at an area of 92 100 hectares (8.7% of the forecast) by April 5, 2016.

According to Rosstat, consumer prices for sugar in Russia decreased by 0.6% in March 2016. From the beginning of the year consumer prices of sugar in the country increased by 4.8%.

 

UKRAINE

According to the State Fiscal Service, imports of sugar and raw sugar (HS code 1701) made in the amount of US$ 18804 million in the first three months (January-March) of 2016; in March only – US$ 171 thousand. Imports fall associated with the delivery of large quantities of raw sugar to Ukraine in January-February 2016. Sugar exports in March also made an insignificant amount, as the main quota for duty free exports to the EU in 2016 have exhausted within the first two months.

Ukrainian exporters within three months has completely exhausted allocated for 2016 quota for duty-free sugar supplies to the EU, said Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Alexey Pavlenko.
