Sugar beet harvest in Russia and news from Ukraine, Sept 09, 2020

RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of September 8, 2020, sugar beets were harvested from 91.8 thousand hectares or 9.9% of the area sown; total 3.4 million tons of beet collected; average yield makes 37.33 MT/ha.

The harvesting of sugar beets started in Penza region; the bulk volume of sugar beet collected makes 65.2 thousand tons. This year, farmers will have to harvest sugar beet from 52.6 thousand hectares, according to the regional Ministry of Agriculture.

UKRAINE

In the Vinnitsa region, the drought is expected to reduce the sugar beet harvest by 40% of the projected production volume, the regional administration reports.

The sugar-making season in Ukraine has officially started on September 5, 2020, when the Radekhiv sugar plant was launched, Ukrtsukor reports. As of September 8, 17.4 thousand tons of sugar beet were processed and 1.05 thousand tons of sugar were manufactured.
