Sowing of sugar beets in Russia and Belarus as of April 20 and April 21 respectively

RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of April 20, 2020, sugar beet was sown on an area of 574.3 thousand ha, or 60.8% of the projected area in Russia (in 2019 - 471.6 thousand ha). In the Tambov region, sowing work was performed at 50 thousand hectares (total planned - 95 thousand hectares).

BELARUS

According to the information by Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus received by Sugar.Ru, on April 21, 2020, Belarusian farmers have sown 61.5 thousand ha with sugar beets, which is 67.3% of the plan (last year - 75.0 thousand ha, 78.1%). Belarussian agrarians plan to grow sugar beet on 91.5 thousand ha in 2020.
