Sowing of sugar beets in Russia and Belarus as of April 16 and April 17 respectively

RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of April 16, 2020, sugar beet was sown on an area of 555 thousand ha in Russia, or 55.8% of the projected area (in 2019 - 347.1 thousand ha). In the Tambov region more than half of the total sugar beet acreage has been sown – over 48 thousand hectares of fields have been attended by April 16, 2020. Five districts of the Lipetsk region have already completed sowing sugar beets, total 106 thousand ha are allocated for sugar beets in the region with 76 thousand ha are already sown. The planned acreage under sugar beet in Tatarstan is 47.6 thousand ha in 2020 (74% to 2019).

BELARUS

According to information by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, received by Sugar.Ru, as of April 17, 2020 Belarusian farmers have sown 44.7 thousand hectares of sugar beets, which is 48.8% of the plan (last year - 55.4 thousand hectares, 57.7%). This season Belarus plan to grown sugar beet on 91.5 thousand.
