RUSSIA

The prices for refined sugar from industrial producers amounted to 20.47 rubles / kg (+ 0.2% per week) on February 27, 2020, according to the Food Safety Monitoring and Forecasting System of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

According to Sugar.Ru rail cargo monitoring data, in February 2020, Russia imported of 6.4 thousand tons of white sugar total, all from Belarus. This is a very low figure, given that in February 2019, Russia received 20.5 thousand tons of white sugar by rail, and in February 2018 - 19.6 thousand tons. We wrote about the reasons for such a low import in previous reviews. Railway sugar exports amounted to 88.4 thousand tons (including 10.3 thousand tons - export through the port of Novorossiysk). Sugar transit through the Russian railway is also insignificant - 5.7 thousand tons

CUSTOMS UNION

The duty on import of raw sugar to the Customs Union remains at $ 240/MT in March 2020. The average monthly price for raw sugar at the ICE stock exchange was $ 331,76/MT in February 2020, respectively, the import duty in April 2020 will dropped to $203/MT.

BELARUS

The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade has extended state regulation of sugar prices until March 30. Thus, the temporary state regulation of sugar prices in Belarus is effective from January 1 to March 30, 2020 inclusively. The marginal minimum retail price for sugar is Br1.5 (about 44 rubles at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation).
