RUSSIA

Russian Federation will produce 1.5 million tons of molasses in 2019, which is 4.6% more than in 2018, as follows from the data of Soyuzrossahara.

Russian and international beverage companies - members of the Union of Soft Drinks and Mineral Water Producers (PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Red Bull, IDS Borjomi, Rosinka, Aqualain, FAB) have signed the Code of Voluntary Obligations of Soft Drink Manufacturers and made a voluntary commitment to reduce the amount by 10% added sugar in the portfolio of beverages until the end of 2024.

KAZAKHSTAN

It is planned to collect 525 thousand tons of sugar beets in Almaty region and produce 52 thousand tons of sugar in 2019, according to Amandyk Batalov, akim of the region. In 2019 the new equipment for pulp drying and briquetting was installed at the Aksu sugar factory. Additionally the Aksu and Koksu sugar factories will begin processing raw cane starting from 2020, which will make it possible to produce up to 300 thousand tons of refined sugar by 2023 and cover over 60% of the national demand for the commodity (currently is estimated at 485 thousand tons annually), Mr. Batalov added.
