The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of the Russian Federation admits bankruptcy of a number of Russian sugar factories in the medium term due to falling sugar prices, according to materials for a meeting at section of the expert council on the state of the sugar market of the Federation Council 


Farmers in Voronezh region harvested 6.131 million tons of sugar beets with an average yield of 49.04 MT/ha from 125 thousand hectares, which is 93% of the harvested area. As of November 6, 2019, the factories accepted 4.22 million tons of sugar beets, and have processed 2.97 million tons producing 449 thousand tons of sugar.


Since the beginning of the season as of November 5, 2019, sugar mills in Tatarstan have received 1 328.5 thousand tons of sugar beets, processed 1 047.2 thousand tons and produced 156 285 tons of sugar; sugar production yield makes 15.3%, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan reports.


According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of November 5, 2019, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 1.06 million ha, or 92.2% of the area sown (in 2018 - 1.05 million ha), 48.9 million tons of beet collected (in 2018 - 38.7 million tons) with a yield of 46.32 MT/ha (in 2018 – 36.94 MT/ha).


According to Soyuzrossahar, sugar beets are harvested in the Southern, North Caucasian, Central and Volga federal districts as of November 05.  Total 1073.7 thousand ha of crops were harvested (93.8% of the crop acreage) with an average yield of 46.1 MT/ha. In 2018, 1,052.4 thousand hectares were harvested on this date, the yield was 37.0 MT/ha.


Russia will produce a record volume of beet sugar - 7.2 million tons this year against the annual demand of 5.9 million tons, said the head of the Union of Sugar Producers of the Russian Federation (Soyuzrossahar) Andrei Bodin on Tuesday


By November 6, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 89.7 thousand hectares or 96.2% of the area sown (in 2018 - 96.1 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. About 4572.8 thousand MT (in 2018 - 4586 thousand MT) of beets were collected, with an average yield of 51 MT/ha (in 2018 – 47.71 MT/ha). The sugar content in beet in the republic is 16.84% versus 16.94% for the same date last year.
