Prodimex harvested about 75% of the sugar beet crop in the Voronezh region, said Vadim Yeryzhensky, deputy general director of the holding. He noted that sugar beet yield is significantly higher than last year. About 2.9 million tons were processed at the plants, which is a third more than in the same period last year.


Over 3.9 million tons of beets were harvested in Kursk region as of report date, the plans are to collect at least 4.7 million tons, in 2018 the regional field yield was 46.4 MT from hectare, in 2019 - about 49.0 MT/ha. Local sugar plants have processed more than 1 million 800 thousand tons of beet and over 286 thousand tons of sugar were produced – 25 thousand tons more than in 2018. The plans mark more than 600 thousand tons of sugar to be produced this season, the regional administration reports.


Russian sugar prices dropped to critical values, said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov. He said that total volume of overproduction in Russia is about 1 million tons. Accordingly, prices for the commodity decreased by 35%: from 2018 level of RUR 30 thousand per ton to the current 19.5 thousand rubles per ton. Zyabbarov sees “optimizing his sown area”a way out of the situation.

So far, sugar beet harvesting continues in the republic: over 2.3 million tons of beets were harvested from 53.2 thousand ha with a yield of 44.3 MT/ha. Compared to previous season, the yield from a hectare has grown by more than 11.0 MT. A number of districts enjoys yields of over 50.0 MT/ha, Zyabbarov noted.


As of October 25, 2019, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 882.5 thousand ha or 77.1% of the acreage sown in the country; total 40.1 million tons were collected (36.2 million tons in 2018) at average yield of 45.43 MT/ha (in 2018 – 36.43 MT/ha).


As of October 25, 2019, total 4.83 million tons of beets were processed and 704.2 thousand tons of sugar produced, Ukrtsukor reports.


By October 28, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 76.7 thousand hectares or 82.3% of the area sown (in 2018 - 83 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. About 3782.6 thousand MT (in 2018 - 3849.7 thousand MT) of beets were collected, with an average yield of 49.31 MT/ha (in 2018 – 46.4 MT/ha). The sugar content in beet in the republic is 16.75% versus 16.88% for the same date last year.
