According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as of October 24, 2019, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 860.2 thousand ha or 75.1% of the area sown; total 39 million tons of beet were collected (in 2018 - 35.4 million tons); average yield makes 45.31 MT/ha (in 2018 – 36.3 MT/ha).


Ukrainian farmers have harvested sugar beets from an area of 149 thousand ha or 68% of the forecast and collected 6.5 million tons at average yield of 43.8 MT/ha as of October 24, 2019, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reports. As of October 24, total volume of 4.69 million tons of beet was processed and 683.1 thousand tons of sugar produced, Ukrtsukor reports.


In January-September 2019 sugar production has decreased by 16.7%. The expected harvest of sugar beet in 2019 is 81.8 thousand tons – less than last year due to dry weather, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.


By October 25, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 72.7 thousand hectares or 78% of the area sown (in 2018 - 77.4 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. About 3562.3 thousand MT (in 2018 - 3557.1 thousand MT) of beets were collected, with an average yield of 48.99 MT/ha (in 2018 – 45.97 MT/ha). The sugar content in beet in the republic is 16.75% versus 16.85% for the same date last year.


According to the analysis of data by National Statistics Office of Georgia, conducted by Sugar.Ru, in September 2019 the import of white sugar (HS code 170199) has made $11.7 million ($3.1 million in 2018). Totally in for January - September 2019 Georgia imported white sugar for $35.2 million ($30.3 million in 2018). Export of white sugar in January - September 2019 has made $10.1 thousand, total for 9 months 2019 - $10.4 thousand (in 2018 - $171.9 thousand).
