RUSSIA

As of September 19, 2019, sugar beets were harvested from an area of 321.4 thousand ha or 28.1% of the acreage sown, 13.8 million tons of beet collected (11.1 million tons in 2018) with an average yield of 42.91 MT/ha (in 2018 – 34.5 MT/ha).

As of September 20, 2019, a total volume of 543 000 tons of sugar beets were collected in Penza region. The average yield of sugar beets in the farms of the region makes 37.0 MT/ha, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reports. Total sugar beet acreage in 2019 in Penza region has made 59.5 thousand hectares. It is planned that the bulk sugar beet harvest in the region will reach 2 million tons.

UKRAINE

Sugar prices increased slightly in the domestic market, thus, sugar from sugar beets from harvest-2019 is offered at a price of UAH 10900–11100 UAH per ton (RUR 28 476-28 998/MT). Additionally cheap sugar from the Agrarian Fund is still in the market available at a very low price – from UAH 8500/MT (RUR 22 206/MT), the Ukrainian press reports.

As of September 19, total 619.5 thousand tons of beets were processed and 77 thousand tons of sugar produced in the current season, Ukrtsukor reports.

BELARUS

The Ministry of Antimonopoly Development and Trade has reduced prices of natural gas for sugar producers to make 388.76 Belarusian rubles (RUR 12163.757) per thousand cubic meters. Previously, the cost of natural gas was 501.07 Belarusian rubles (RUR 15677.78) per thousand cubic meters. The decision has taken the effect and is applicable to contracts dated from September 1, and is valid until the end of this year.
