Sugar beet harvesting update from Russia and Belarus, Sept 04, 2019

RUSSIA

According to Soyuzrossahar, as of September 3, 2019, total 133.5 thousand ha of crops were harvested (11.7% of the crop acreage) with an average yield of 43.3 MT/ha (in 2018, 120.6 thousand hectares were harvested on this date, with a yield of 33.8 MT/ha).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, total 5.8 million tons of sugar beets (in 2018 - 4 million tons) were harvested from an area of 133.6 thousand ha (in 2018 - 117.6 thousand ha) or 11.7% of the planted area with a yield of 43.13 MT/ha (in 2018 – 34.04 MT/ha).

UKRAINE

In January-July 2019, the total sales of sugar produced in the country amounted to UAH 5776.3 million excluding VAT and excise tax (about 14176 million rubles at the average exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in 2019), of which the volume of sugar sold outside the country amounted to UAH 548.8 million (about 1347 million rubles), which equals 9.5% of total sales.

BELARUS

By 4 September, 2019, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 4.04 thousand hectares or 4.3% of the area sown (in 2018 - 3.22 thousand hectares), Sugar.Ru was informed in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. About 176.6 thousand MT (in 2018 - 129.7 thousand MT) of beets were collected, with an average yield of 43.77 MT/ha (in 2018 – 40.26 MT/ha). The beet sugar content in the republic is 15.81% versus 16.01% for the same date last year.
