RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of November 23, 2017, sugar beet in the country was harvested  from the area of 1137.3 thousand hectares or 96.7% of the crop area (in 2016 - 1.1 million hectares).

Eletsky sugar factory (Lipetsk region) following a large-scale reconstruction of the plant, is ready to double production in 2017. If last year the plant produced 120 thousand tons of sugar, then in 2017 the company expects to reach the limit of 260 thousand tons, the regional administration reports.

UKRAINE

According to Ukrstat, as of November 20, 2017, the average consumer price of sugar in Ukraine was 13.26 UAH/kg (29.83 rubles/kg at the Central Bank exchange rate for the reporting day), which is 1.13% less than the price of the previous observation date 10 days ago. Over the year (since November 20, 2016) sugar has decreased in price by 9.49%, in two years (since November 20, 2015) the price of sugar has decreased by 12.65%. The highest prices are observed in the Transcarpathian region - 14.08 UAH/kg, the lowest - in the Zhytomyr region, 12.48 UAH/kg.
