RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by October 13, 2017, sugar beet in the country was harvested from the area of 768.7 thousand hectares or 65.3% of the crop acreage (in 2016 - 623.0 thousand hectares).

According to the Federal Customs Service, in August 2017 Russia imported 7.6 thousand tons of white sugar. Following the results of 8 months, import of white sugar in Russia has made 176.5 thousand tons (in 2016 - 194.0 thousand tons, in 2015 - 228.0 thousand tons). During the period January-August 2017, the main exporting countries to Russia were BELARUS (84.30%) and POLAND (8.84%). In August 2017 Russia exported 18.9 thousand tons of white sugar. Following the results of 8 months, the export of white sugar from Russia has made 242.5 thousand tons (in 2016 - 6.5 thousand tons, in 2015 - 2.8 thousand tons). For the period January-August 2017, the main countries importers to Russia were KAZAKHSTAN (32.27%) and AZERBAIJAN (28.18%).

UKRAINE

As of October 13, 2017, sugar beet was harvested from the area of 142 thousand hectares or 45% (planned total 318 thousand hectares), 6.1 million tons of sugar beet was collected at an average yield of 43.2 MT/ha, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

BELARUS

As of October 16, 2017, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 57.3 thousand hectares or 58.6% of total area sown (in 2016 - 57.5 thousand hectares), according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus. Bulk harvest makes 2 664 thousand tons (in 2016 – 2 416.8 thousand tons) of beets; the average yield makes 46.5 MT/ha; sucrose content - 15.9%.
