RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on 9 October 2017, sugar beet was harvested in Russia from an area of 682.5 thousand hectares or 58% of crop acreage (in 2016 – 572.7 thousand hectares).

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated October 10, 2017, total 21 vessels have been nominated to carry 748020 MT of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 575270 MT from 16 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

BELARUS

Belarus and Russia will try to regulate the supply of Belarusian sugar to the Russian market; the first meeting may take place in November this year. Russia accuses Belarus of duty-free import of raw cane sugar to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union, Belarus rejects these claims, arguing that such sugar after processing is sold outside the EEU countries.

UKRAINE

Total 7 sugar refineries process beet in Vinnitsa region as of September 6, 2017. The refineries have accepted 944.0 thousand tons of sugar beet for processing, have processed 763.5 thousand tons and produced 110.4 thousand tons of sugar.

According to Gosstat, sugar prices from manufacturers decreased by 4.5% in September 2017, and on an annualized basis (September 2017 vs. September 2016) - increased by 12.4%. In September 2017, consumer sugar prices in the country decreased by 0.5%, and on an annualized basis – increased by 14.5%.
