RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on 5 October 2017, sugar beet was harvested in Russia from the area of 612.2 thousand hectares or 52% of crop acreage (in 2016 – 484.1 thousand hectares).

According to the statistics of Sugar.Ru for September 2017, total 19.1 thousand tons of white sugar was imported to Russia. Thus, total, since the beginning of 2017, the imports by rail amounted to 182.8 thousand tons (in 2016 - 196.5 thousand tons), of which 174 thousand tons was supplied to Russia by Belarus.
BELARUS

Agroholding "Astarta" intends to increase its land bank from current 250 thousand hectares to 400 thousand hectares by the year of 2020, a company representative said.
