According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on 7 September 2017, sugar beet was excavated in Russia from an area of 174.4 thousand hectares or 14,6% of acreage sown. Farmers in the Nizhny Novgorod region began harvesting of sugar beets of a new crop.

Sugar factories in Bashkortostan plan to start processing beet from 10 September. The area sown with sugar beet makes 52.8 thousand hectares, which is 3% higher than in 2016.

Russia may increase sugar exports to 0.5 million tons this agricultural year, the General Director of GC Rusagro Maxim Basov predicts. According to him, sugar will be supplied mainly to Central Asia and the Caucasus.
UKRAINE
Pechersk District Court of Kiev on August 30 has arrested the bank accounts of four companies that are part of the Astarta agroholding. "Astarta" is seeking in court to cancel the arrest of accounts of a number of its subsidiaries. On September 6, a search was conducted in the office of "Astarte", tax evasion was indicated as justification for such acts.
