RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was harvested from an area of 13.4 thousand hectares or 1.1% of the sown area as of August 8, 2017, (in 2016 - 11.6 thousand hectares).

According to the Federal Customs Service, in June 2017 Russia imported 28.4 thousand tons of refined sugar. Following the 6 months the volume of white sugar import to Russia amounted to 148.3 thousand tons (in 2016 - 163.2 thousand tons, in 2015 - 184.3 thousand tons). Export of refined sugar in June 2017 has made 18.6 thousand tons. Following the 6 months the volume of white sugar export from Russia amounted to 212.2 thousand tons (in 2016 - 3.2 thousand tons, in 2015 - 1.4 thousand tons).

UKRAINE

According to Gosstat, prices for sugar from producers increased by 0.4% in July 2017, and on an annual basis (July 2017 by July 2016) - by 18.6%. Consumer prices Decreased by 0.6% in July 2017, in annual terms (July 2017 to July 2016) - increased by 14%.

MOLDOVA

The harvest of beet is expected to be 15-20% higher than last year, the local press writes. According to estimates from beet producers, it is possible to collect up to 30 tons from hectare, the Ministry of Agriculture is even more optimistic - up to 42 tons/ha. Sugar factories are ready to accept raw materials at 700 Moldavian Lei per ton (about RUR 2 348.74/ton at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation). Total sugar beet acreage this season has made 24 thousand hectares – two thousand more than last year.
