RUSSIA

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated August 1, 2017, total 15 vessels have been nominated to carry 548 110 MT of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 352 410 MT from 10 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, farmers in Krasnodar and Stavropol regions began to harvest sugar beet. As of July 31, 2017, a total of 1.5 thousand hectares have been harvested in the country with 66,1 thousand tons of beets collected at a yield of 45.59 MT/ha.

The deputy governor of Krasnodar region estimates the gross harvest of sugar beet in 2017/18 MY to be higher than last season (10.4 million tons). According to the official, such harvest will allow the region to increase the share of sugar production in Russia to 30%.

UKRAINE

The production of sugar in Ukraine in the new season will be at the level of previous year - 2.0 million tons, while the demand of the domestic market is estimated at 1.5 million tons. Last season, 42 plants were involved in the production of sugar, 46 plants will work this year.

CUSTOMS UNION

In August 2017 the duty on importing raw sugar into the Customs Union has increased to $ 240/MT. The average monthly price for raw sugar at the ICE stock exchange in July was $ 311.26/MT, respectively in September 2017, the import duty will remain at the level of August – $ 240 per metric ton.

BELARUS

According to the monitoring data of Sugar.Ru, in July 2017 Belarus exported 15.5 thousand tons of white sugar by rail transit Russia (in 2016 – 1.2 thousand tons). From the beginning of 2017, total volume of 82.3 thousand tons of sugar was delivered (in 2016 – 4.4 thousand tons), with the main recipients in Kazakhstan (35%) and Azerbaijan (22%).
