RUSSIA
Rainy and cold spring and the first half of summer in the Nizhny Novgorod region led to waterlogging of soils, late sowing campaign and collapse of some parts of plants, including sugar beet. However, the increase of sugar beet acreage more than 2 times, to 9.15 thousand hectares, will allow harvesting more beets than last year, according to representatives of the Sergach sugar factory (Nizhny Novgorod region).
BELARUS
According to the National Statistical Committee, sugar production in the country has amounted to 26 thousand tons in June 2017, which is 2.7 times less than production in June 2016. In January-June 2017 the industrial production of sugar was 146, 5 thousand tons in the Republic of Belarus, which is 33.5% less than the same figure in 2016.
Data for January-April 2017, the National Statistical Service of Belarus has not published.
