RUSSIA

According to the Federal Customs Service, Russia imported 27.3 thousand tons of white sugar in April 2017. Upon the 4 months, the import of white sugar to Russia amounted to 95.2 thousand tons (in 2016 – 107.7 thousand tons, in 2015 – 121.7 thousand tons), the main countries exporting sugar to Russia were Belarus (86.99%) and Poland (5.67%).

In April 2017, Russia exported 50.1 thousand tons of white sugar. By the end of 4 months, the exports of white sugar from Russia amounted to 155.9 thousand tons (in 2016 – 2.0 thousand tons, in 2015 – 0.7 thousand tons), the main countries-importers of Russian sugar were Azerbaijan (31.15%) and Kazakhstan (25.53%).

UKRAINE

According to the Economic Discussion Club, Ukraine exported 732,000 tons of beet sugar from the beginning of the season. Domestic consumption is estimated at 1.1 million tons for the season 2016/17 MY, total produced 2008 thousand tons, and exports for the season are estimated at 750 thousand tons, the carry-over stock at the end of the marketing year - 53 thousand tons.

According to Gosstat, 298.9 thousand tons of white sugar was sold in January-May 2017, which is 2.6 times more than in the same period in 2016. The average consumer price of sugar is UAH 12515.3/MT in 2017.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to Statkom, the production of sugar and molasses increased by 337.83% and amounted to 54 694 tons in May 2017 (in 2016 – 38 204 tons, in 2015 – 18 974 tons). In total, since the beginning of 2017 total 137 214 tons of sugar and molasses have been produced (in five months of 2016 – 168 911 tons).
