RUSSIA

According to estimates of the Vavilov Institute of Plant Industry, 98% of the sugar beet acreages are occupied by foreign hybrids.

By April 29, Tatarstan has started sugar beet sowing campaign. Beets was sown at 1 thousand hectares (from 74 thousand hectares.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated May 2, 2017, total 6 vessels have been nominated to carry 235000 MT of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 144400 MT from 4 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

BELARUS

As of May 2, 2017, total acreage of 76.2 thousand hectares was sown with sugar beet in the Republic of Belarus (79.4% of the plan), the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus reports.

UKRAINE

By April 28 the acreage sown with sugar beet has reached 297 thousand hectares or 102% of the forecast (acreage planned for the season – 293 thousand hectares), according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to Kazakhstan Statkom, the local sugar prices from manufacturers decreased by 0.5% in April 2017, and from the beginning of the year - by 5.9%. Consumer sugar prices fell by 1%, from the beginning of the year - by 5.9%, and in annual terms (by April 2016) - by 0.5%.

According to the FCS of Kazakhstan, for 3 months (January-March 2017) cane raw sugar imports (HS code 170114) from countries outside CU have amounted to 20.0 thousand tons (in 2016 - 50.7 thousand tons). White sugar exports (HS code 170199) has made 5 thousand tons (in 2016 - 70.7 thousand tons), and imports has made 67.6 thousand tons (in 2016 – 20.0 thousand tons). A significant decrease in sugar imports has caused by white sugar supplies from Russia, which is not reflected in this statistics
