RUSSIA
The Nizhniy Novgorod department of FAS of Russia in its resolution dated April 26, 2017, has recognized the actions to allocate subsidies in the amount of 125 million rubles from the regional budget for the sugar industry of the region, to be a violation of the Law on Protection of Competition.

The total volume of sugar exported from Russia reach up to 350 thousand tons in current marketing year may, the surplus of sugar in Russia will amount to 800 thousand tons, said Andrey Bodin, the chairman of the Union of Sugar Producers of Russia.

According to the analysis of the FCS data, in February 2017, Russia has imported 21.7 thousand tons of white (refined) sugar. Following the results of 2 months the import of white sugar to Russia amounted to 42.8 thousand tons (in 2016 - 58.7 thousand tons, in 2015 - 60.5 thousand tons).
In February 2017, Russia exported 32.5 thousand tons of white sugar, following the results of 2 months the export of white sugar from Russia amounted to 56.2 thousand tons (in 2016 - 0.8 thousand tons, in 2015 - 0.2 thousand tons).
UKRAINE
By April 27, the agricultural enterprises of the Cherkassy region of Ukraine have seeded sugar beet at 16.8 thousand hectares, which is 113.0% of the plan or 2,000 hectares more than planned, the regional administration reports.
KYRGYZSTAN
The plenipotentiary representative of the government in the Chui oblast Baktybek Kudaibergenov has promised that the sugar factory "Koshoy" will be launched by autumn.
KAZAKHSTAN
Kazakhstan sugar producers do not exclude the deficit of sugar which may occur in the country as soon as in 2019, following the abolition of the quota for raw sugar imports. The Union of Food Enterprises of Kazakhstan informs that today up to 90% of sugar is produced from imported cane sugar and 10% from sugar beet.
