RUSSIA

GC Rusagro will pay dividends of 6.6 billion rubles in 2016 (including 2 billion rubles in the first half of the year).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown at an area of 526.5 thousand hectares or 46.6% of the forecast as of April 17, 2017 (in 2016 - 433.9 thousand hectares).

The sowing of crops began in Orel region. By April 17 sugar beet was sown at 5.3 thousand hectares (10.4% of the plan), the regional administration reports.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated April 18, 2017, total 5 vessels have been nominated to carry 190400 MT of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 115000 MT from 3 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

Canadian company Fairfax Financial Holdings intends to complete a deal to acquire a 27.8% stake in the Ukrainian agricultural holding Astarta by June.

The Ukrainian agro holding Cygnet has completed sowing of sugar beet with total 3.9 thousand hectares planted by report date.

TURKMENISTAN

Since the beginning of the year, prices for food products have grown by 18-50% in Turkmenistan. The price of refined sugar increased from 4.8 to 5.8 Manat (from 77.25 to 93.35 rubles) per 1 kg. At the same time, sugar is not available in every food shop; very often a person is limited to buy not more than two kilograms of sugar, the "Chronicle of Turkmenistan" reports.
