RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture report dated  March 28, 2017, Krasnodar region and the Chechen Republic have started sowing sugar beet with 15.1 thousand hectares (8.2% to the forecast) and 0.1 thousand hectares (1.7% to the forecast ) respectively sown as of report day.

"Prodimex" plans to invest in the modernization of Voronezh region sugar factories 2.2 billion rubles in 2017, which will, in particular, double the capacity of Perelyshinsky sugar mill – up to 6 thousand tons of beet per day. The Khokholsky sugar refinery will increase the area for beet storage and, accordingly, the sugar beet processing period to six months or more.

AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan has launched sugar beet sowing campaign in order to ensure the sugar plant with local raw materials, President Ilham Aliyev said.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the FCS of Kazakhstan, for 2 months (January-February 2017) sugar exports (HS code 1701) to countries outside CU have amounted to 5,032.8 tons (in 2016 - 50.3 tons), almost the whole volume was delivered to Tajikistan. Import of sugar has made 20.1 thousand tons (in 2016 - 30.5 thousand tons), mostly – raw sugar from Brazil.

UKRAINE

Agricultural enterprises have sold 125.5 thousand tons of beet white sugar in January-February 2017 (+211.7% compared to 2016). In January-February 2017 the average price of sugar sold by agricultural enterprises was UAH 12,239.6 per ton (25681.86 rubles/ton - at the current rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation) (without VAT, subsidies, transportation, expeditionary and overhead costs), Gosstat informs.
