Farmers in Tambov region plan to produce 4.5 million tons of sugar beet this year, the regional administration reports.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture figures dated March 27, 2017, sugar beet sowing campaign has started in Krasnodar region and in Chechen Republic, with 9.4 thousand hectares (5.1% to the forecast) and 0.1 thousand hectares (1.7% to the forecast) respectively already sown.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated March 28, 2017, total 5 vessels have been nominated to carry 168150 mt of raw cane sugar in 2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 78000 mt from 2 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.
UKRAINE
“ED&F Man Ukraine” has started sowing sugar beet, 400 hectares already planted, which is a tenth of the planned acreage.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine data for February 2017, total 14.5 thousand tons of sugar confectionery were produced (+18.85% compared to the previous month and +9.85% by February 2016). The production of sugar confectionery amounted to 26.7 thousand tons from the beginning of the year (in 2016 – 26 thousand tons).
