RUSSIA

In January 2017 the consumer prices for sugar in Russia decreased by 2.4% on Y2Y basis (vs. January 2016) - by 10.5%, according to Rosstat.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated February 7, 2017, total 48 vessels have been nominated to carry 1535950 MT of raw cane sugar in 2016-2017 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 1324300 MT from 40 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

UKRAINE

During the first month of 2017 the Ukrainian producers have exported 65 150 tons of sugar for total value of US$ 32.6 million, which is twice less than in December, according to "Ukrtsukor". During 2016/2017 MY the Ukrainian sugar manufacturers have supplied 409,700 tons of sugar to foreign markets, the next season the exports may exceed 500 thousand tons, according to "Ukrtsukor". Wholesale prices increased by average 5.5% in the first month of this year and now fluctuate within UAH 14.10-14.50/kg (RUR 30.43-31.29/kg).

According to the analysis data of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine for the first month (January) of 2017, the Ukrainian sugar exports amounted to 65 000 tons for total value of US$ 32.6 million. The largest buyers include Sri Lanka (20% of total exports) and Turkey (19.7%). Other sugars export has made 2.5 thousand tons, 48.5% delivered to the Russian Federation. Export of molasses has made 4.6 thousand tons, three quarters of which went to Hungary.

KAZAKHSTAN

The plans of the Ministry of Agriculture for agribusiness development this year include increasing the processing load for sugar plants producing sugar from sugar beet by 16 thousand tons (from 37% to 50%).

According to the national StatCom, in January 2017 the price of sugar from producers increased by 3.7%, and by a year-on-year calculation (vs. January 2016) – by 22%.
