RUSSIA
NCSP Group (Novorossiysk sea port) informs that the volume of transshipment of sugar for the year 2016 has dropped to 650 thousand tons, less by 282 thousand tons or 30.3% than in 2015. Handling of raw sugar has declined due to reduced demand for expensive imported raw materials and the growth of the production of sugar beet in Russia out of local raw materials due to good yields and better quality of domestic raw materials.

The average consumer price of sugar in December 2016 has made 48.78 rubles per 1 kg, which is 1.6 rubles less than a month ago, according to Rosstat.

Record harvest of sugar beet and the reconstruction of Cheremnovsky sugar plant have ensured processing 811,060 tons of sugar beet and production of more than 111 thousand tons of sugar by January 25, 2017. Currently, the company continues processing of sugar beet.
UKRAINE
Deputy General Director of LLC "Radekhiv sugar" Oleg Kulich said that all 4 plants, which became the property of "Prominvestbank" after bankruptcy "Mriya", were bought by his company on December 29. The sum of the deal was not disclosed. According to him, the newly procured plants will reduce the number of employees by approximately 30%, while the salary for remaining personnel will grow by 30%.
KAZAKHSTAN
The Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan approved a scientifically proved physiological norms of consumption of food products, including consumption of sugar and confectionery products of 33 kg/year per capita.
BELARUS
Foundation of sugar and fat and oil holding company is envisaged in a set of measures to implement the Programme of socio-economic development of Belarus for 2016-2020 years, which was approved by the Council of Ministers on January 12, 2017 in the resolution No18. The birth of the sugar holding is planned for year 2017, institutions responsible are "Belgospischeprom", Regional Executive Committees, Ministry of Agriculture, the State Property Committee, the Ministry of Finance.
