RUSSIA
Krasnodar region plans to produce 1.2 mln MT of sugar from beet harvested in 2016, the vice-governor of Krasnodar region Andrey Korobka has told.

Sugar factories in Krasnodar region have received over 3 million tons of sugar beet for processing; the volume stocked makes 3 216 thousand tons; the volume of beet processed makes 3 019 000 MT with 365 700 tons of sugar and 87 500 tons of dried beet pulp produced to date, according to the local Ministry of Agriculture.

According to railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, in 8 months of 2016 Russia has exported 4 686 tons of white sugar (in 2015 – 5 844 tons). However, if in 2015 the main exports were performed in January-February, then in 2016 the maximum export falls on August. This shift is probably driven by low prices in 2016, when in August 2015 the minimum price was RUR 39.9/kg (basis Krasnodar), then this year it dropped to RUR 36 rubles/kg, making export of sugar quite cost-effective to neighbouring countries. During the 6 days of September, the export of sugar to Kazakhstan has amounted to 475 MT, despite the fact that in September 2015 the total export to this country made 322 tons. At the current level of sugar price export operations continue to be profitable, and, most likely, will continue.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated September 6, 2016, total 32 vessels have been nominated to carry 1 093 900 MT of raw cane sugar in 2016 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 932 650 MT from 27 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.
BELARUS
The harvest of sugar beet in Grodno region is expected to grow by 30% from previous season, according to the regional administration.
UKRAINE
According to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine for 8 months (January - August) 2016
- imports of sugar (HS code 1701) were made for total value of $ 19 279 000, for the reporting month - $ 88 000.
- sugar exports (HS Code 1701) were made for total value of $ 60 083 000; in the reporting month $ 16 396 000.
