RUSSIA

Tkachev, Russian Minister of Agriculture, has announced that the dependence on foreign breeding material of sugar beet made 76% In the first half of the year.

According to the update by the Ministry of Agriculture dated September 2, 2016, sugar beet was collected from the area of 101,700 hectares, or 9.2% of the crop area (in 2015 – 107.2 thousand hectares). Harvested total 4.5 million tons (in 2015 – 4.3 million MT), with the average yield of 44.68 MT/ha (in 2015 – 40.17 MT/ha).

According to the analysis of the FCS customs declarations, Russia has exported to countries outside the Customs Union 700 tons of pulp in July 2016. By the end of 7 months the exports of pulp from Russia have reached 286 600 tons (in 2015 – 229.8 thousand tons; in 2014 – 244.8 thousand tons).

UKRAINE

The dynamics of sugar beet development, according to "Ukrtsukor", looks as follows as of September 1, 2016:

  • beet weight - 479 grams (in 2015 – 424 g);
  • topper weight - 276 grams (in 2015 – 257 g);
  • sucrose content - 16.5% (2015 – 16.9%);
  • plant density - 101 thousand pieces per 1 ha (in 2015 – 101 thousand pieces per 1 ha).

For the week past the minimum price of sugar increased by 2.8%, while the maximum - by 3.9%. As of September 2, the sugar mills sell sugar at wholesale price of UAH 12.70-13.30/kg or around RUR 31.36-32.84/kg (according to Sugar.Ru), informs "Ukrtsukor".

MOLDOVA

In the first half of 2016 Moldova has exported 38 898 tons of sugar to the European Union, which makes 104% of the quota of 37 400 MT.

In the northern regions of Moldova farmers started harvesting sugar beet. The sucrose content in the beet reaches 17%. The national Ministry of Agriculture anticipates yields about 31 MT from a hectare. This year sugar beet was grown at 23 thousand hectares.
