According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru for the period August 18-25, 2016, the US dollar exchange rate grew by 1.3% (on Aug 18 – 63.99 RUR/US$; on Aug 25- 64.81 RUR/US$). Moscow ruble price of sugar fell by RUR 2.90/ kg (-7,04%), Krasnodar price dropped RUR 1.90 / kg (-5,01%). Dollar Moscow the price of sugar fell by US$ 0.053 / kg (-8.23%), Krasnodar price dropped US$ 0.037 / kg (-6.25%).

Last week prices continued to fall, but starting from 19 August there were attempts to reverse the downtrend. If the minimum prices for wholesale volumes of sugar in Krasnodar have decreased by RUR 2.80/kg in the previous report week (August 11-18), then, during this week (August28-25) – by RUR 1.90/kg only. On August 25, 2016 Prodimex and some other sellers have slightly increased prices following morning sales. Rusagro continues to offer RUR 33.50/kg, but has significantly delayed the time of shipment – now it’s until September 28. Probably this is due to the shortage of actual sugar, as the plants are not actively involved in the processing of beet in the central part of Russia; another explanation is low sucrose content compared to previous season.

UKRAINE

According Ukrtsukor’ information, the country has produced 460 tons of sugar by August 25, 2016. The first sugar mill launched in Ukraine this season was Ilinetsky plant, followed by Zhdanov sugar factory.
