RUSSIA

Nizhny Novgorod based agricultural company "Vesna" is planning to invest RUR 10.5 billion in the development of "Sergachsky sugar factory" (Nizhny Novgorod region) until 2019. Sergach plant schedules to start accepting sugar beet in early September 2016. The test plant run is scheduled for September 15, 2016. As of today the volume of sugar beet supply against the contracts concluded makes 130 thousand tons with the total 177 thousand tons of beet drafted for processing in 2016.

“Uspensky Sharnik” JSC (part of group "Prodimex" group) intends to invest 2 billion rubles to set up a seed-manufacturing centre in Krasnodar region.

Rustem Mirgalimov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Razgulyay, could become the owner of the three sugar factories ("Aleksevsky", "Lgovskiy" and "Bolshevik", previously owned by the holding) as well as a land area of 75 thousand ha, which are estimated at RUR 3.5 billion. According to sources of “Kommersant” media, these assets can become part of a joint venture in the future between Mr. Mirgalimov and the two brothers – Dmitry and Alexey Ananiev, owners of PSB (PromSvyazBank and its affiliates) says "Kommersant"

UKRAINE

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, farmers in Nykolaev region collected average 57.24 MT of sugar beet from each hectare. This is a record yield in the country. Next to it in the rank is Kiev region, where yields make around 56.09 MT per hectare.

"Astarta" increased net profit in three times - up to € 75 million upon by the operational results in the first half of 2016. The income from sugar segment in the reporting period has increased by 2% to reach € 60 million (or 41% of total consolidated revenue). Out of 140 000 of the total sugar sales volume almost 20 000 MT were exported. Crops of sugar beet, which occupy 45 000 hectares this year, are in good condition.
