RUSSIA

Average consumer prices for sugar have increased by 1.1% from July 19 to July 25 2016 or by 3.7% from the beginning of July 2016. From the beginning of the year (compared to the end of December 2015) the growth made total 7.4%, according to Rosstat.

According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru for the period July 21 – 27, 2016, the dollar exchange rate has added 4.0% (on July 21 – RUR 63.42/$; on July 28 – RUR 65.95/$). Moscow RUR price of sugar fell by RUR 0.60/kg (-1.23%), in Krasnodar price fell by RUR 1.00/kg (-2.11%). US dollar equivalent price in Moscow fell by US$ 0.039/kg (-5.06%), in Krasnodar – by US$ 0.044/kg (-5.87%).

The national sugar production volume amounted to 220.3 thousand tons in January-June 2016, an increase by 24.8% compared to 2015 year period, according to the National Statistics Committee. In January-May 2016 Belarus has exported 145 700 tons of sugar, which is 16.4% less compared to the same period last year. The average export price has decreased by 13.8%, to US$ 508 per MT. The average price of deliveries outside the CIS is much higher than for the CIS countries: USD 580 vs. USD 508 per metric ton, but the volume of such deliveries makes total 300 tons for the first half of the year. Sugar stocks with industrial enterprises made 76 300 tons as of July 1, 2016, which is 8.2% less than it was on June 1, 2016.

KAZAKHSTAN

Koksu sugar factory (Almaty region, Kazakhstan) will be capable of processing up to 2 000 tons of beet per day after the modernization; thus the capacity will cover the entire beet harvest grown in Almaty region. The anticipated production volume is 20 000 tons of sugar per year.
