RUSSIA

The State Duma has passed a bill that prohibits the cultivation and breeding genetically modified plants and animals in Russia, with the exception of those for scientific purposes.

The Swiss company Syngenta AG increased the sale of sugar beet seeds in Russia by 15% in the season 2015/16, according to company representatives.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated June 28, 2016, total 24 vessels have been nominated to carry 826150 MT of raw cane sugar in 2016 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 585400 MT from 17 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation excluded "Belarusian Sugar Company" LLC from the register of subjects of natural and allowed monopolies, because in 2014-15 the company market share was less than 35%. BELARUS

BELARUS

Sugar stocks with industrial enterprises amounted to 83,000 tons as of 1 June 2016, which is 42.5% less than it was as of 1 May 2016, reports the National Statistic Committee.

Belarus has addressed the EAEC countries with request to introduce response measures against Moldova, up to abolition of the free trade regime, if Moldova preserves restrictions on sugar imports.
