RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown on an area of 1,080,300 hectares or 101.9% of the forecast as of 17 June 2016 (in 2015 – 1,018,100 ha).

The wholesale price of sugar has increased by 0.9%, retail - by 0.6%, from June 7 to June 14, 2016, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Over 12 thousand hectares of crops, including sugar beet, was completely destroyed in the North Caucasus Federal District, as a result of hail and showers, which were persistent in the region in May and early June.

 

ARMENIA

At an extraordinary meeting on Friday the Armenian parliament has ratified an agreement on free trade in the CIS member-states area signed in 2011, according to which Uzbekistan is included in the scope of free trade.

UKRAINE

In Ukraine the prices in the sugar market are relatively stable, according to "Ukrtsukor". On June 17 sugar mills offered sugar at wholesale price of UAH 12.20-12.50 / kg (around RUR 32.03-32.82/kg a the current rate). From the beginning of the month the price of sugar fell by 2-3% in Ukraine.

Solomensky district court in Kiev has arrested a representative of the company involved in the scheme of theft of state sugar worth more than UAH 300 million UAH.

TAJIKISTAN

According to railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru for 5 months of 2016, the transit of white sugar to Tajikistan amounted to 2,5 thousand tons (in 2015 – 5 700 tons). The main supplier of sugar in Tajikistan in 2016 is Belarus (79.8%). Deliveries of Ukrainian sugar have ceased thought in the first five months of 2015 the volume received was 2 200 tons.
