RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia has sown sugar beet on an area of 1,077,900 hectares by June 15, 2016, or 101.7% of the forecast (in 2015 – 1,018,100 ha).

Group NCSP (Novorossiysk Sea Port) reports that the volume of sugar moved has amounted to 337 thousand tons in January-May 2016, which is 159 thousand tons or 32.1% less than in 2015.

JSC "Studenetsky flour mill" (Sucden) will be the guarantor of RUR 7.5-billion loan agreements for the five sugar factories of Sucden, of which 2 billion are earmarked for &"Atmis-sugar".

Following the verdict sounded in the courtroom Mr. Pavel Ignatenko, the former general director of OJSC "Kanevsksahar", was taken into custody. The ex-CEO is convicted of fraud on a large scale. The court has appointed a former top manager a sentence of eight years of imprisonment. According to the court, Pavel Ignatenko was acting in the interests of "Cuban sugar" holding whose owner, Oleg Sanzyapov, is on the international wanted list.

According to the monitoring of prices in the period June 9 – 15, 2016 by Sugar.ru, the US$ exchange rate grew by 1.9% (on June 9 the rate was US$ 1=RUR 64.68; June 16 the rate made US$ 1=RUR 65.92). Moscow ruble price of sugar increased by RUR 0.80/kg (+1.77%), Krasnodar price increased by RUR 0.70/kg (+1.59%), in other regions a similar uptrend of prices is observed. US dollar equivalent price of sugar in Moscow fell by $ 0.001/kg (-0.14%), in Krasnodar by $0.002/kg (-0.29%).

 

UKRAINE

According to the State Statistics Service, the average price for white sugar by producers decreased by UAH 231.71 and has made UAH 11,018.67 per metric ton in May 2016 (RUR 29 174.57/MT at the current official exchange rate).

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine has approved sugar production and delivery volumes under quota "A" (domestic market) during the period from September 1, 2016 to September 1, 2017. The quota for the production and supply of sugar totalling 1.67 million tons was distributed between the 44 sugar factories in the new marketing year.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to railway monitoring data by Sugar.Ru, transit of white sugar to Kyrgyzstan has amounted to 3 100 tons of sugar in 5 months of 2016 (in 2015 – 62.7 thousand tons). The main supplier of sugar to Kyrgyzstan is Romania (56.8%). Deliveries of Ukrainian sugar have dropped significantly, for example, in the first five months of 2015 Ukraine accounted for 48,500 tons, then in 2016 for only 612 tons. Deliveries of Belarus sugar have ceased completely compared to 12.3 thousand tons supplied in January-May 2015.
