RUSSIA

According to the Federal Customs Service, Russia has imported 185 700 tons of raw sugar in January-April 2016, which is 50% less than in 2015. Import of white sugar to Russia in January-April 2016 amounted to 107 200 tons (the figures on refined sugar imports by FCS include the estimated volume of imports from the CU countries - Sugar.Ru).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia has sown sugar beet on an area of 1 072 600 hectares or 101.2% of the forecast by June 6, 2016 (in 2015 – 1 011 900 ha).

According to Rosstat, consumer prices for sugar in Russia decreased by 1.5% in May 2016. From the beginning of the year the growth of consumer prices for sugar in the country has made 1.2%.

According to the figures by Williams Brasil dated June 7, 2016, total 21 vessels have been nominated to carry 728900 MT of raw cane sugar in 2016 season from Brazilian seaports to the Black/Baltic seaports with end-receivers in CIS, Georgia and Baltic states. As of today, the volume received and unloaded makes 459800 MT from 13 vessels, based on Sugar.ru data.

 

UKRAINE

According to the State Service statistics, the total volume sales of sugar produced in the country has made UAH 1 913.1 mln (RUR 5 039.5 mln at the current exchange rate of the CBR) in January-April 2016 (excluding VAT and excise tax), including UAH 91.6 million (RUR 241.2 million) for sugar, sold outside the country.

KYRGYZSTAN

The retail price of sugar in the country has dropped by 0.25 Kyrgyz Soms or 0.48% in the period from May 6 to June 2, 2016, according to the national Ministry of Economy. On June 2, 2016 prices for sugar were 52.39 Kyrgyz Soms per 1 kg average (approx. RUR 50.29/kg.).
