RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia has sown sugar beet was on an area of 1069.0 thousand hectares, or 100.9% of the forecast by June 1, 2016 (in 2015 – 1,009,400 ha).

According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru for the period from May 26 to June 02, 2016 the exchange value of US dollar grew by 1.1% (on May 26 the rate was US$ 1=RUR 65.89; on June 2 – US$ 1=RUR 66.62). Sugar stocks of last season are melting, leading prices to grow. Moscow ruble price of sugar rose by RUR 1.40/kg (+3.15%), Krasnodar price added RUR 1.80/kg (+4.28%); other regions display similar uptrend. US dollar equivalent prices show growing mood as well: in Moscow sugar price has increased by US$ 0.014/kg (+2.08%), in Krasnodar –by US$ 0.020/kg (+3.13%).
KAZAKHSTAN
According to the figures by the Statistics Agency for May 2016, the price of sugar from producers has increased by 1%, and by 17.2% from the beginning of the year (vs. December 2015).

According to the Federal Customs Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 4 months (January – April 2016), imports of sugar beet seeds (HS 120910) amounted to 34.5 tons from countries non-member of the CU zone; the import of cane sugar (HS 170114) has made 103.4 thousand tons; import of other sugar (HS 170199) made 28.3 thousand tons.
