RUSSIA

According to IKAR, factory stocks of sugar in Russian Federation in September 2015 - April 2016 (as of the end of any month) were at a record level for the last 15 years at least. With the continued import of white sugar (mostly from Belarus) and sugar available in Russia by the end of April 2015 plus taking into account the stocks of raw sugar – makes the commodity sufficient to meet the national demand for sugar until the end of the season.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the wholesale price of sugar has increased by 0.2%, retail price has decreased by 0.5% in the week from May 17 to May 23, 2016.

UKRAINE

As of May 27, 2016 sugar mills offer sugar at wholesale price of UAH 12,45-12,80/kg (RUR 32,71- 33,63/kg at the current rate of the CBR), thus, sugar lost in price UAH 0.20-0.25/kg over the last month (RUR 0,52-0,65/kg), according to "Ukrtsukor". Shareholders of the agricultural holding "Astarta" have approved the extension of the share buyback program for another 18 months. The program parameters were approved at levels same as earlier: the company can buy back a maximum of 2.5 million shares (10% of the securities outstanding) at a price not more than PLN125 per share.

Agricultural enterprises of Ukraine, excluding those in the Crimea and Sevastopol, have sold 22.4 thousand tons of sugar in April, which is 8.5% less than in March 2016, reported the State Statistics Committee. In January-April, agricultural enterprises have traded 87.2 thousand tons of sugar, which is 69.6% less than in the same period of 2015.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the average consumer price of sugar reached 56.22 Soms/kg (-0.56% from previous month, -0.96% from the beginning of the year and total growth made + 8.13% on a year).
