RUSSIA
The total acreage sown with sugar beet in Russia this season has exceeded the forecast. By May 25, 2016 sugar beet was sown on an area of 1 061 000 hectares, or 100.1% of the forecast (in 2015 – 997.2 thousand hectares).

The consumer prices for sugar decreased by 0.5% in the period May 17 to 23, 2016; from the beginning of the year prices increased by 1.4%, according to Rosstat.

From the beginning of May 2016 the consumer prices for sugar decreased by 1.2%, and from the beginning of the year (compared to those at the end of December 2015.) - increased by 1.4%.

According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru for the period May 19-26, 2016 the dollar exchange rate rose by 1.3% (on 05/19/2016 - 65.06 rubles / $ on 05/26/2016 - 65.89 rubles / $ ). Moscow RUR price of sugar grew by RUR 1.40/kg (+3.26%), Krasnodar price grew by RUR 0.80/kg (+1.94%), and other regions show similar uptrend. US dollar equivalent price of sugar has added US$ 0.013/kg (+1.97%) in Moscow; in Krasnodar price increased by US$ 0.004/kg (+0.63%).
UKRAINE
Taras Kutovy, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, has suspended the decision on the resignation of the acting head of "Agrarian Fund" Oleg Lipovoy. Earlier the dismissal of Lipovoy was reported, after the announcement of Lipovoy on possible involvement of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv region in the theft of 35,000 tons of sugar from Agrarian Fund’ warehouses in Lutsk.

Ukrainian agricultural companies sold sugar at average UAH 11 224.7/ton without VAT in April (in March – UAH 11340.1/MT), according to the State Statistics Service. The price of sugar grew by 46.3% compared to April 2015.
BELARUS
The Belarus sugar stocks count 144.5 thousand tons as of May 1, 2016, which is 5.7% less than it was as of April 1, 2016, according to State Statistics.
