According to Rosstat, the production of sugar in Russia has increased to make 108 152 tons in April 2016 (+107.22% from March, + 24.8% vs. April 2015).

Farmers in Belgorod region have completed sowing sugar beet. As of May 25 the acreage planted has made 100%, out of 70 839 hectares planned for sugar beet. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by May 23, 2016 sugar beet was sown on an area of 1,059,100 hectares, or 99.9% of the forecast (in 2015 – 993.5 thousand hectares).

On May 24 sugar mills offer sugar at wholesale price of UAH 12.50-12.90 / kg (or RUR 33.35-34.41/kg at the current rate of the Central Bank of Russia), reports "Ukrtsukor". Compared to previous week the minimum price propped by UAH 0.10/kg, and the maximum - by UAH 0.05/kg or 0.8% and 0.4% respectively.

Group of companies "Ukrteplo", involved in modernization of Zaplazsky sugar factory in the Odessa region, will set up bioethanol production at the plant. In addition to bioethanol, the facilities at the sugar factory will include biofuel power plant, solar power plant and station to produce synthesis gas. The volume of annual production of bioethanol from organic raw materials (cereal straw and corn stalks) will be about 50 thousand tons. The planned solar power plant capacity is 10 MW, biofuel power plant - 12 MW.
