RUSSIA

On April 29, 2016 the Arbitration Court of Krasnodar region, after regarding the case number A32-4742/16, has decided that the value added tax rate to sell beet granulated pulp for export should be applied at a rate of only 10% instead of 18% as the latter is irrelevant to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation though was approved earlier by tax bodies.

Regional Departments of Agriculture report. The Republic of Tatarstan has sown sugar beet on an area of 60,500 hectares by May 16, 2016, which makes 95% of the forecast (in 2015 – 56 800 ha)/ Farmers in Belgorod region have seeded 99.7%, or 70,658 hectares out of total 70,839 hectares allocated for sugar beet.

Debt on government subsidies before "Rusagro" has almost reached the value of RUR 1 billion, said the general director of "Rusagro" Maxim Basov. According to him, the group has been not receives subsidies from the end of the third quarter of last year - "and there is a risk that they will never pay. My understanding is the short-term support was cut in full, except for beef and milk. It turns, short-term money have disappeared from the system completely. Subsidies on investment loans and grants per hectare are being paid, though".

The average consumer price of sugar amounted to 54.56 rubles per 1 kg in March 2016, up by 0.37 rubles compared to that a month ago, according to Rosstat.

 

UKRAINE

The sugar mills sell sugar at wholesale price of UAH 12.65-13.00/kg as of May 13 (RUR 32.24-33.13/kg at the current rate of the CBR), said "Ukrtsukor". Prices have remained stable from previous week.

In Ukraine the soil moisture is sufficient for beet, sunflower and corn, according to the monitoring data by the Ukrainian weather centre. The reserves of productive soil moisture in sugar beet fields formed within the optimum - 24-33 and 135-194 mm in the arable, and in 1 meter soil layers, respectively, except for some areas in Cherkassy region.

KYRGYZSTAN

According to the National Statistics Committee, consumer prices for sugar decreased by 0.5% in April 2016 compared to the previous month; from the beginning of 2016 - by 1.1%.

UZBEKISTAN

In order to prevent seasonal shortage of sugar "Khorezm Shakar" and "Angren Shakar" factories have taken measures to increase the volume of sugar production. As a result, growth in sugar production in the period from January to April this year has made 118.6% compared to the same period last year. Today the wholesale price of 1 kg of sugar in the republic was 3,200 sums ($ 0.50), packaged sugar - 3,700 sums ($ 0.58) per 1 kg.

BELARUS

According Statistical Committee of Belarus, sugar production in the country amounted to 43,800 tons in April 2016, which is 2% less than in April 2015.
