RUSSIA
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Tatarstan, sugar beet was sown on 24,700 hectares of land by May 3 (or 39% of the forecast).

By May 4 the area sown in Belgorod region with sugar beet has made 97% (68 890 hectares out of 71 165 planned, according to the report by local Agribusiness and Environment Department.

KAZAKHSTAN
A memorandum of cooperation was signed during the international investment forum in the South-Kazakhstan region. According to the agreement, the corporation "Amanta" in 2018 the company will open a processing facilities with annual capacity of 200 thousand tons of raw sugar, 600 thousand tons of sugar beet and 300 thousand tons of sugar per year, the akimat of South Kazakhstan region has announced. The total cost of the project is 35.8 billion tenge.

According to the data by the Statistics Agency, consumer prices for sugar increased by 0.4% in April 2016 compared to the previous month; from the beginning the growth made 10.6%, and year-on- year (April 2016 to April 2015) - 45.1%. The price of sugar from producers increased by 0.2% in April 2016 compared to previous month, while from the beginning of the year (vs. December 2015) – by 16.1%
BELARUS
The country has seeded 93,100 ha with sugar beet (97.7% of the plan) by May 4, 2016, according to Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus. In 2015 season total 102,100 hectares was sown by same day.
UKRAINE
Kiev region have increased the sugar beet crops by 38% compared to 2015 season. The acreage has grown from 11.8 thousand ha in 2015 to 19,000 hectares in 2016. The increase in acreage, nevertheless, is lower than in 2014.

By May 4 sugar beet was sown on an area of 281 000 hectares in Ukraine, or 100% of the forecast (in 2015 - 230 000 hectares, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
CUSTOMS UNION
The duty on import of raw sugar to the Customs Union will drop to US$ 227/ton in May 2016. In June 2016 the fee will remain at US$ 227/ton. The average monthly price for raw sugar at the stock exchange "The ICE" in April was US$ 330.66/t.
