Sugar news from Russia, Armenia and Kazakhstan, Apr 29, 2016

Latest news are available in our daily reports.

RUSSIA

According to evaluation by Sugar.Ru, the proposal of the Ministry on Development of Eastern Regions on the construction of a sugar factory in Khabarovsk region is devoid of economic justification. The level of self-own sugar beet leaves no room for production of significant volumes of sugar from raw sugar, which may be demanded by the market. Sugar produced from raws has a higher production cost, as compared with the beet sugar. Given the strategic policy of Russia aimed for substitution of imports, the idea to achieve benefits for the enterprise, which will process imported raw materials and produce commodity as opposed to the national product, is not realistic.

KAZAKHSTAN

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, 7 900 hectares were planted with sugar beet by April 29, 2016 (63.5% of the plan). In Almaty region the acreage planted makes 5.5 thousand hectares or 85.5% of the plan, and in Zhambyl 2.4 thousand hectares or 40% of the planned.
