RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Russia has sown sugar beet on an area of 680.9 thousand ha as of April 22, 2016 or 64.2% of the forecast (in 2015 388.7 thousand hectares).

 

UKRAINE

By April 22 sugar beet sown on an area of 272 thousand hectares in Ukraine (or 97% of the forecast), according to Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

The decision to impose a special duty of 39.2% on imports of certain goods originating in Belarus is suspended until September 15, 2016. Earlier the special duty for some commodities, including sugar containing confectionery and bakery, was planned to be introduced starting from May 1, 2016.

BELARUS

According to the Statistic Committee, sugar production has reached 105,800 tons in January-March 2016 (in 2015 – 85.6 thousand tons).

By April 25, 2016 Belarus has sown 76,300 hectares with sugar beet (79.8% of the plan). In 2015 season it was planted 86 000 hectares on the same date. According to the adjusted forecast, the total planned acreage of sugar beet makes 95 700 ha in 2016 (earlier forecast was 98 800 hectares), according to Ministry of Agriculture.
