RUSSIA

The second auction for sale of property of OJSC "Kuban Giray sugar" (Krasnodar region) was declared invalid because of the absence of applicants for participation in the auction.

Farmers in Bashkiria started spring sowing campaign; sugar beet is planned to occupy about 50 thousand hectares this season.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the wholesale price of sugar fell by 0.4%, retail – by 0.7% in the period from April 5 to April 11 April, 2016.

 

UKRAINE

Sugar prices began to decline last week (-2.23%), due to intervention sales of sugar by the Agrarian Fund. Last week the wholesale prices were fixed in the range of UAH 12 900-13 400/MT, the Agrarian Fund was offering sugar at UAH 12.7/kg.

Taras Kutovoy was appointed new Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine. The new minister is a member of pro-presidential “UDAR” political party.

By April 15 sugar beet was sown on an area of 249 000 hectares in Ukraine, or 93% of the forecast (in 2015 the progress was 142 thousand hectares).

BELARUS

According statistics committee, in January-February 2016 the volume of exports of sugar from the Republic of Belarus to Russia amounted to 54.9 thousand tons (1.1% more than in 2015). Sugar production in March totalled 53,600 tons; in January-March 2016 – 105 800 MT (+24% vs. 2015).

According to Ministry of Agriculture the acreage planted with sugar beet has made 41,600 ha (42.1% of the plan), as of April 18, 2016.

KAZAKHSTAN

The state Statistics Committee of Kazakhstan says, the volume of production of sugar and molasses has increased by 78.18% in March 2016 and has made 38 782 tons.
