RUSSIA

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown at an area of 403,100 hectares (or 38% of the forecast) in Russia as of April 14, 2016.

Farmers in Kursk region have sown 54 000 hectares with sugar beet out of 106 thousand hectares planned as of April 14, it is scheduled to complete sowing until April 21, according to the regional administration.

Due to the lack of funds of "Dobrinsky sugar factory" has postponed the modernization of its industrial facilities, planned to be performed in 2016-2020, the general director of the plant has informed. It was projected to invest RUR 1.6 billion by 2020 in modernization of the plant.

Criminal Investigation Department in Tula region has completed the investigation of the criminal case against the former general director of OJSC "Tovarkovsky sugar factory", accused of non-payment of wages to 293 employees for the total of RUR 7.2.

“Kaliningrad Railways” company has launched a regular transportation line of raw sugar with destination in Kazakhstan (namely, railway station Talas) in April 2016, according to the Corporate Communications department of “Kaliningrad Railways”. The carrier company and GC "Sodruzhestvo" have signed a contract for the annual delivery of raw sugar for the total volume of 250 thousand tons.

 

UKRAINE

The moisture reserves of topsoil in the Ukrainian areas planned for sowing sugar beets have formed mainly within the optimum and constituted 22-40 mm or more.

KAZAKHSTAN

Kazakhstan has received 15.5 thousand MT of white sugar by rail transit Russia in the first quarter of 2016. The main suppliers of sugar are Poland (39%) and Ukraine (28%).
