RUSSIA
The volume of sugar imports from non-CIS countries has decreased to make total value of US$ 32.8 million in March 2016 (down by 36.8% vs. 2015), according to the Russian Federal Customs Service.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, sugar beet was sown on an area of 336 200 ha by April 13, 2016, which makes 31.7% of the forecast.

Krasnodar farmers have completed sugar beet sowing campaign, according to the regional Ministry of Agriculture. Total acreage planted with sugar beet has reached 180,800 hectares this season, a growth of 25.3 thousand ha compared to 2015.

According to the data of price monitoring by Sugar.ru for the period from April 07 to April 14, 2016, the US dollar value has decreased by 4.1% against Russian ruble (on Apr 07 the rate was USD 1=RUR 68.52; on Apr 14 – USD 1=RUR 65.77). Significant decline of US dollar led to the drop of ruble prices. Moscow ruble price of sugar has dropped by RUR 0.40/kg (-0.97%); in Krasnodar the drop was RUR 0.80/kg (- 1.99%). US dollar equivalent sugar price in Moscow grew by US$ 0.019/kg (+ 3.16%), in Krasnodar – by US$ 0.013/kg (+ 2.21%).

BELARUS
Belarus farmers planted 21,100 ha with sugar beet (or 21.3% of the acreage planned) by April 14, 2016, according to Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus.

KAZAKHSTAN
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, the country has started sowing sugar beet. By April 14th 2016 the area planted has made 800 hectares (6.5% of the plan).
